Riser Installation (Blocks or Stone)
We install risers working from bottom to top. Basalite/Belgard block risers are set level on prepared bases with blocks secured according to the selected wall system. Natural stone risers are mortared for stability or dry-set with overlapping joints. Each riser is checked for level side-to-side and the appropriate front-to-back pitch. Rise dimensions vary between block systems, so we plan around the selected product and verify that the steps remain consistent from bottom to top.
Tread Installation & Compaction
Treads are completed according to the stairway system. On Basalite/Belgard block stairs, the block caps are the stair treads. If a deeper tread is desired, paving stones can be installed behind the caps rather than glued on top of them. Redi-Rock units form their own finished stairs, while natural stone stairs use stable stone treads set for the installation. We keep the tread depth consistent and verify that every tread is secure and comfortable underfoot.
Finishing, Lighting & Handrails
